Jilin Nong'an Processing Facility was
built in Nongan County, Jilin Province, Northeast China,
in May 2000. Starting from April 2003, the Changchun
base continues Gaorong's quality service under a new
name: Changchun Gaorong Agriculture Co., Ltd. Changchun
Gaorong Agriculture Co., Ltd. has a total investment
of 11 million Yuan RMB. The Changchun base covers 27,000
square meters and is equipped with a refrigerated warehouse
covering 3,100 sq. meters. This base has land covering
a total of 1500 acres and 100 green houses, where it
grows snow peas, sugar snaps, broccoli, spinach, cabbages,
onions, carrots and yams.
The annual production capacity is up
to 7,000 tons.
The climate of the region where Changchun base is located
is classified as "Mid Temperate Zone Continental
Climate."
The
region has an average annual temperature of 4.7 C, an
average annual rainfall of 510 millimeters, an average
2590 hours of sunshine and 145 frostless days. The fertile
soil mainly consists of blackland, meadow soil and chernozem.
In the summer of 1999, Gaorong took advantage of the
local geography and climate to start trial-planting
snow peas, sugar snaps, broccoli and spinach, products
that were out of season in many other areas of China
around that time.

This counter-seasonal vegetable planting
technology proved successful and was implemented on
a large scale by Gaorong in 2000, making it the first
time that Chinese producers offer the international
market the above four kinds of vegetables in large quantities
during the summer months. Until now Gaorong still maintains
its leading position in the supply of counter-seasonal
vegetables among its Chinese competitors.
